Volunteering
Volunteers - An Essential Part of the Team
Volunteers provide invaluable support and hands-on care to our many patients and families. At The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, there are three main types of volunteers:
- Direct Care volunteers who work with our patients and families
These volunteers receive training to enable them to volunteer in ho mes, hospitals, area nursing homes, and at The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care's Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga. They provide respite (rest) for caregivers, visit with patients and families, personal care for patients, run errands, write letters, facilitate children's bereavement groups, and provide support to the grieving.
- Administrative Service volunteers
These volunteers receive orientation to answer phones, assemble information packets, file for clinical teams, garden, greet family members, guests, and visitors, prepare mailings, write acknowledgments, and assist in other office needs.
- Special Event volunteers
These volunteers help with our Annual Bouquet Sale, Memorial Walk, Wine Tasting Festival, Light-a-Life Tree and other fund raising events.
We are always in need of additional volunteers. In our fast-paced society, we realize the value of everyone's time. If you are interested in finding out how you can help, please call the Volunteer Office at 686-8309. We salute all of our current volunteers for choosing Hospice Buffalo as the recipient of your time and talents.
